The area around Tower Bridge and London Bridge is one of London's most compelling bases for history-focused visitors. The Tower of London is a 10-minute walk north. Borough Market — one of the best food markets in Europe — is 5 minutes west. Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe are 15 minutes west along the riverside path. The Jubilee line from London Bridge reaches Westminster in 4 minutes, making it faster to the Houses of Parliament than many West End hotels.

The Tower Bridge / London Bridge area (SE1) is excellent for first-timers and history enthusiasts. The Tower of London, Borough Market, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe, and HMS Belfast are all within walking distance. London Bridge station gives you Jubilee and Northern line access plus fast trains to Gatwick (30 min). It's quieter than the West End at night, which some visitors prefer. The main drawback: it's not as central as the West End for nightlife and shopping.

London Bridge (Jubilee and Northern lines, plus Thameslink overground) is a 5-minute walk west. Tower Hill (Circle and District lines) is a 5-minute walk north. Tower Gateway (DLR) is adjacent to Tower Hill. Between these three stations, you can reach most parts of London without changing trains. The Jubilee line from London Bridge to Westminster is 4 minutes — direct to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The Shangri-La at The Shard is the most spectacular option — occupying the upper floors of The Shard with views over Tower Bridge and the river. For value, the Novotel London Tower Bridge and the Hilton London Tower Bridge are reliable mid-range choices directly between the Tower and Borough Market. Premier Inn London Tower Bridge is consistently rated for budget value in this area.

Tower Bridge is 2.5km from the City of London (Piccadilly Circus area) and about 4km from Westminster. By Tube: 4 minutes from London Bridge to Westminster (Jubilee); 8 minutes to Oxford Circus (Jubilee); 15 minutes to Paddington (Jubilee via Westminster). The riverside walk to Tate Modern is 15 minutes west; to Westminster Bridge, 30 minutes.
